Consultant

One of the job prospects for food technology graduates is a food technology consultant. The profession usually has a responsibility to provide consultation in food processing related to food science. This aims to develop food product quality such as production flow, marketing, and food nutritional content and safety,  Every skill needed is learned both druing classes and practicums.

Research assistant in the food sector

Food technology graduates can be a researcher asistant in a research institute or an industry using the problem-solving skills, engineering and design, and oral and written communication skills. In the academic area, the graduates are prospective as well to be a vocational schools teacher. Further postgraduate degree levels are required for lecturers prefession. While being a student, the Food Technology Study Program also recognizes the Student Creativity Program in Research (PKM-P) which is quivalent to the final project so that it can be proceed as the final task. As for the PKM-P who won the Pimnas, they were not required to attend the final exam. These activities provide students experience in the field of research.

Food product developer

Each company has a special division that handles products. This includes food industries. Using the knowledge gained during study in food technology, the graduates is also possible to have a career as a food product developer. Apart from being responsible for the quality of the products development, the profession has also responsible to maintain the secret recipe of the product.

Food processing specialist

Food technology studies food processing which produce edible produce from agriculture, animal husbandry, and marine resource. It aims to enhance food quality in nutrition and sensories properties. The food process also includes post-harvest, sorting, preservation, packaging, and distribution management, by maintaining and ensuring the final product is safe for consumption and remains nutritious. In addition, in food technology, various elective courses are also provided which are expected to provide special skills for each student according to their interests. So that after graduating, food technology graduates can become food processing experts in their chosen field.

Entrepreneur

Entrepreneurs are important as jobs creators and as a country's economic drivers. Entrepreneurship is introduced at the university level as early as possible to create students as agents of change. In addition, dominatied profession in Kalimantan is entrepreneur. Therefore, this program is appropriate to support food entusiasms to become food entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship activities are divided into 4 stages based on motivation in providing basic entrepreneurship training, initiation through advanced entrepreneurship training, competition in food business, and himapreneur. When students advance their skills through regular and continous training, they have a possibility to run a start up business.  Finally, businesses developed by the students could be provided by further guidance through the Technology Business Incubator (IBT), an initiation program from ITK.
